Knitcraft Tea on the green part 2 available now!

What a week last week!!! It was manic! But fabulous! Anyway, week 2 is now available on the Knitcraft hobbycraft blog if you’re taking part anyway!
Happy hooking!!

Crochet Along, sweet caroline and little box of crochet 💞

As you know Friday just gone knitcraft released the first part of @lyndascraftroom and my CAL ‘Tea on the green’ well, considering it’s knitcraft/hobbycraft first CAL and ours I think it’s going pretty well!! We’ve had one or two tiny hiccups but I’m really pleased with it so far.  The first Block A was always going to make it or break it, it has a real mixture of stitches in there, we wanted it to be suitable for both beginners and those a bit more experienced.  Once the first person completed the first block there was a sigh of absolute relief!!! We’ve had them working with dc’s, htr’s, tr’s, dtrs, ttrs, bpdc’s, bobble stitches and turning circles into squares!!

Along the way we’ve had so many lovely comments!! I think because both Lynda and I spent so long on it we forgot just how nice it is, so to read nice comments is so heart warming.  I won’t lie, a few have brought a bit of a tear 😂!!!

At the moment we’ve got 780 people following on Facebook, I’ve not a clue how many are working on it outside of that, but I was jumping for joy at 200!! We’ve got people joining us every hour of the day, some are even in Australia and the US! So people joining through the night too.  Anyway we’ve had some fabulous Block A’s completed, thought I’d share a few 💞💞

It’s like wow!!! We designed that!! And people like it!
Anyway, I’ve also been making YouTube tutorials, never in my life have a made a tutorial, but there’s a first time for everything! I don’t even know how to edit them so they’re rough, just me a hook and yarn.

In between all that I’ve also been working on Helen shrimptons 🎶sweet caroline🎶 I love it! I love Helen shrimpton she’s just an absolute legend!!!  Here’s my part two finished using scheepjes catona

Then!!! Another exciting thing! My little box of crochet arrived this week! I’ve made a little start!

It’s just lovely and full of goodies, and if you’ve never had one before, get one!!
Happy hooking xx

Now that took some stuffing! 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩

I have been itching to make a doughnut for a long time, Twinkie chan (amazing) released the pattern last year in her book, Crochet abode a la mode, she fantastic, I still haven’t bought the book! But then the pattern was released in a magazine

so I had to buy it.  Then when I looked at the pattern it was going to cost a fortune to make, the pattern recommends super chunky lionbrand yarn, I think I was looking at about £60 for the yarn and £75 for the stuffing.

Anyway, after visiting abakhan in Liverpool last week I managed to find some super chunky yarn in a biscuit colour and pink, they were classed as seconds because the label was missing, I bought 8 balls of biscuit for about £12 and 5 balls of hot pink for £6.99, then I found the new hug it out yarn from hobbycraft knitcraft and thought I’d use that for the centre, it’s just lovely! And so thick!

All in all I spent £25 on

yarn, savvy shopper me you know!! Once I’d finished it looked a little like this

Floppy! I had read online that it would take between 4-5 kg of yarn to stuff! Anyway @lyndascraftroom sent through a link for amazon, £10 delivered for 5kg!  It’s difficult to understand without seeing just how large 5kg of toy stuffing is!

It’s huge!!!!!!  But, Twinkie chan wasn’t wrong, not one bit, that doughnut swallowed the lot.  So this morning has been a little hot and sticky, with help from the girls at our #knitcraftsocial we got it stuffed, I’m so pleased with it!!!

Like a doughnut on legs!

This will now be covered in large stuffed 9cm sprinkles and kept by for The Crochet Sanctuary.

Anyway if you fancy a doughnut, calorie free get hooking!! Xx

So much going on!  But it’s great ☺️

And I’m still managing to get some crochet time in.  We’ve been quite busy this week crocheting lots of items for the The Crochet Sanctuary I’ve finished a lovely flamingo cushion cover

I really enjoyed crocheting this, and it was fairly quick to work up, it’ll look lovely on the sofa by the fire!

I also started a Twinkie chan (I love that woman) large doughnut pouffe too! It’s big, really big, and it’s going to take a whopping 5kg of stuffing, that’s 20 of the bags I normally buy from hobbycraft!  Anyway I managed to order some from amazon for about £10, so I’m pleased with that, it’s not finished, it needs sprinkles and stuffing

It’ll be comfy though!  I have used some of hobbycrafts new ‘hug it out’ for the pink centre, now the yarn is thick, really thick and nice to crochet with.  @lyndascraftroom has been busy with lalylala isn’t he gorgeous!!! She’s called him Sassoon as he looks like a rather camp hair stylist!

I’m not sure she has had much of a chance for anything else as our knitcraft CAL was announced on Tuesday, earlier than we had been expecting, so @lyndascraftroom has been glued to the laptop answering questions and accepting people to the group.

We’ve been overwhelmed by some of the comments about the blanket, it became a real labour of love for us with deadlines and getting it ‘right’

We’ve also roped in my daughter who’s been making Pom Pom wreaths and rugs for us! For the sanctuary, whilst the room is beautiful we need to adorn it with yarn and crocheted items.

So yes a very busy week! Launching the Crochet Sanctuary and a CAL all in one week!

Once my doughnut is finished I’ll be working on @coastalcrochet crocheted log camp fire, check it out, she’s relaeased the free pattern on her blog, I’ll be using it incase it’s too warm to have the fire on at the sanctuary!

Finally!! I can tell you

Our Tea on the green CAL!

What do you think?! This started in February this year! Myself and @lyndascraftroom had been considering running our own CAL, anyway cut a long story short we designed a lovely blanket for hobbycraft /  knitcraft, it was a real labour of love!  There’s a real mixture of stitches for everyone, beginners to advanced, and I do believe it is possibly one of the first CAL’s to incorporate C2C? I might be wrong there.  Anyway, it launches on 21st of July, where the first part of the pattern will be released by hobbycraft / knitcraft blog, yarn packs are just £24, we very much hope you like it. There is also a Facebook page, just search for tea on the green CAL!
