James C Brett Marble chunky review

Who doesn’t like a bit of James C Brett? I do, I have so far really enjoyed flutterby, twinkle and I thought party time was fab and fun, But marble chunky is something else, I’ve bought 2 colours so far, and these are new out, a stunning denim and peach

And a really nice green mix with grey, albeit I haven’t used the green mix yet

Whilst the party time is a favourite of mine, the marble just has that real quality feel to it.  It works up on a 6mm hook, and it’s an awful lot softer than I thought it would be.  It’s got some stunning colour changes all the way through, personally the colour changes are so nice you wouldn’t want to do anything overly complicated with it, I’ve so far crocheted a very simple granny square blanket

I really like the denim with the peach, now I reckon this wood make a fabulous poncho, and the colours would look stunning with dark blue jeans and some nice boots…..shame the weather is getting better!

Each ball is 200g too so you can really do a lot with a couple of balls, I was lucky enough to get them in the 3 for 2 while the offer was on at hobbycraft, so I ended up with 6 of each 🙈 a couple of blankets and a couple of ponchos for next year I think!!

Anyway at £5.90 a ball from hobbycraft with or without the 3 for 2 offer they’re a real bargain.  Go get them!

Manic few weeks

It’s been a little busy to say the least, my parents have now completed on the sale of their property and moved in with us, I’ve got my new craft room, well half of one anyway!

The whole house has been turned upside down, but it needed a good organising anyway.

I’ve carried on with a little bit of my manual madness but find I struggle with counting stitches when I’m tired, and boy I’ve been tired! I’ve not carried on with anymore if my star of wonder, and I really need to, because I’ve got my new sofa!

The grey, white and lime would look really nice with this, I think once I’m back into a routine next week I can get stuck back into it.

So I’ve had to stick to some easier things, things that don’t take so much concentration.

I’ve used up the rest of my James c Brett flutterby and made a nice cushion for my daughters bedroom, It’s just a simple granny square but the James c Brett makes it look lovely

I also nipped into Aldi today as I keep getting told they sell yarn, ok so the selection isn’t huge but I managed to get a really nice grey super bulky chenille yarn with a bit of a twinkle to it, it’s nowhere near as soft as it looks, but I thought it would look nice on the sofa for the dogs to sit on, I got 400g for £3.49!!  I reckon it would make great cushion covers too

So Aldi is worth a look if you ask me….

Merry Christmas!

It’s been a while since my last update, and the reason why is I was unexpectedly inundated with Christmas orders and I didn’t say no!!

It’s been manic, working full time, kids house and husband, but I did it.

I’m aching today, finished my last order at 01:45 this morning, 4 mermaid tails in one week, I didn’t think I could do it, but I did, and they’re lovely, I did have to draft in a little help from my sister yesterday (good job I taught her to crochet in time!) and a little help from one of the lovely girls at crochet group yesterday morning.

I’m off work now until 3rd January and my mission is to finally finish my mandala madness for my sister and her husband, that’s taken a back seat for far too long.  And also to make myself something!

Here’s one  of the tails I finished

The multicoloured one is my favourite and I used James c Brett party time chunky, I love the way the colours change and that’s what kept me interest in it!
I finally finished mums top, designed by Frank and olive, but I’m not too happy with it if I’m being honest, the written pattern for the collar wasn’t very clear and nowhere near enough yarn to finish it

I’ve not even started this months little box of crochet, which is for me!!! So after going to mum and dads for Christmas I’m going to start it!

I also bought some absolutely stunning drops yarn in alpaca silk pistachio, to make a shawl for myself out of simply crochet magazine but I’ve not started that either, so I’ll make a start this week.

So it’s Christmas morning, kids have opened their presents, they seem pleased, I’m off to my mum and dads shortly where I can be the child again, for a short while anyway, I wonder if Santa has been for me!

Merry Christmas & happy hooking xxx
